This project with Katharina Vetter is about the transformation around the 80s office building of AXA Insurance in Oerlikon, Zurich. Rather than demolishing it, our aim was to densify the area while introducing sense of identity and community, thereby minimizing their anonymity. The undertaking involved making the roof of the AXA building publicly accessible, creating a village-like rooftop terrace with scenic views, a shared garden, and a café. This village up in the air consists of multi-story houses and apartments, connected to a terrace and winter­garden, maintaining the theme of the human scale in the strongly developing neighborhood.
